Take a Coffee (or Tea) Break

via GIPHY Throughout each day, make sure to take a break to give yourself time to relax, contemplate, and let go of all the stresses of the day. Whether you’re a coffee or a tea drinker, it’s important to find even a few minutes to sit in a quiet space to have a breather, especially if you spend most of your day chasing little ones.

Pamper Yourself with a Spa Day

via GIPHY Schedule a special spa day at least once in the month of April to truly treat yourself to a day of full relaxation. Even if you can only have 30 minutes to spare, it’s enough time to squeeze in a mini massage, manicure, or facial. You’re worth it, Mom!

Read a Good Book

via GIPHY Reading not only relaxes your system, but also keeps your mind sharp. As your family grows, however, finding time to sit and read a book seems to become harder to come by. This April, put a little book time in your schedule to escape into your favorite paperback. You might find a few minutes of reading time after the kiddos go to bed, or even in the morning before all the hustle and bustle of the day begins.

Take an Aromatherapy Bath

Photo source: Flickr/fotostreem Let’s face it, nothing makes you let go of your stress like soaking in a hot bath - unless, that is, you add a few aromatic essential oils into the mix. Throughout April, set aside time to treat yourself to an aromatherapy bath, complete with bubbles, candles, and soothing essential oils like lavender or rose. You’ll feel like you’re floating on a cloud!

Sweat it Out

via GIPHY Lace up those sneakers, moms, because working up a good sweat is a healthy and effective way to reduce your stress. Whether you enjoy an interactive aerobics class, weight training, or a peaceful run in the woods, try to fit in a few workouts in April to keep your stress levels at bay. Your body will thank you.

Make Time for Romance

So, no more excuses - get out and find that sitter, put on your best dress, and make time for a little romance this April.

Meditate in Nature

Photo source: Flickr/mmsea You may already know the benefits that meditation can have on the mind and body, but you can do yourself one better by practicing this art while sitting in nature. Find a peaceful spot outdoors to spend some quiet time, whether you have access a beautiful location, like a garden or a beach, or a relaxing chair on your porch overlooking your yard.

Go Shopping (Without the Kids)

via GIPHY   Although shopping with children in tow can quickly turn into a stress-filled afternoon, perusing the racks by yourself can actually decrease your stress levels. Take time this April to experience this type of solo shopping excursion for yourself. Just make sure to set a spending limit before you go!

Put on Your Dancing Shoes

via GIPHY How long has it really been since you’ve gotten your groove on? If you’re experiencing a lot of stress and day-to-day pressures, probably way too long. Dancing can loosen up your joints, stretch your muscles, and allow you to let go of your stress in a fun and connecting way. So, turn up the jam and dance like nobody’s watching.

Try a Little Yoga

Photo source: Flickr/Jozef Gil Yoga can center your mind in a similar way as meditation, but also helps keep your body toned and limber in a soothing and relaxing way. If you’ve never tried yoga before, try stopping by your local fitness center this April - most have a few yoga classes to choose from for every experience level. You can also purchase a yoga DVD if you want to try it out from the comfort (and privacy) of your living room. Looking for even more ways to blow off some steam during Stress Awareness Month?
